Chef Yo

Chef Yo is an entrepreneur, small business advocate, pioneer, and innovator. She has two decades of culinary experience providing 5-star dining for upscale, celebrity, corporate, and casual events in the Texas and Louisiana region. 

She’s the Minority Female CEO of Nuksy’s Fine Catering, LLC. Nuksy’s Fine Catering possesses the ability to cater any event; a Fine Dining experience with scratch-made foods and full- service dining. As a full-service catering company, we offer our clients the opportunity to choose from a diverse menu of international cuisines. From our hors d’oeuvre and appetizers to our main menu items, each menu item has a homemade feel with high-end quality and food presentation. We also provide our clients with the unique flexibility for their out-of-box ideas. We use contemporary and traditional table designs while adding the unique persona of the client.

Nuksy’s Fine Catering was built on word-of-mouth buzz, social media influence, and personal referrals. We have placement on over 75% of our client’s “Preferred Vendor” venue list.

In 2018 shortly after Hurricane Harvey, Chef Yo acquired Nuksy’s Event Venue – Houston. Her dream was to have an event space to support the Nuksy’s Brand and to provide a place for other small business owners looking for a space to conduct business and entertain.

Chef Yo is also the founder of J. Louise Institute Etiquette, Training and Development for Young Adults and Business Professionals. This concept was inspired by her early youth and favorite subject- Home Economics.

The life skills and tools she received in this class are lost with technology and social media.  Chef Yo wants to bring the conversation back to the dinner table by partnering with local schools and universities, corporations and social organizations.  Dining with Chef Yo – The Etiquette Series.

Chef Yo has been recognized by Houston Community College with the Office of Entrepreneurial Initiative Award for her work with Women-Owned Small Businesses. She has also been recognized by Houston Minority Supplier Development Council as one of the top 10 local entrepreneurs who are emerging in their industry with the Emerging 10 (E-10) Award. She has been featured at Super Bowl LI, Black Restaurant Week and on the cover of Governor Abbott’s Small Business Journal.

Chef Yo is dedicated to feeding the homeless in partnership with the Church Under the Bridge Homeless Ministry and supporting young adults in STEM and Culinary Arts. Social Impact goal- To partner with locally sourced farmers to supply the most sustainable products for promoting a positive influence on an individual’s’ healthy lifestyle and better personal health. 

Chef Yo holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, a Culinary Degree from The Art Institute of Houston and a graduate from Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Business Program.

Chef Yo is married to James Henry and they have two children, Jamal and Jordan.
